Circuit/System Description
|
The body control module (BCM) uses the ambient light sensor to determine the required brightness of the accent lighting. The BCM applies a pulse width modulated (PWM) voltage through the accent light LED control circuit which gives during daylight 70%, at night 40% and for welcome lighting 100% illumination. The following LEDs will be illuminated, if equipped:

The headlamps or park lamps ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC
|
The BCM detects a short to ground on the accent lighting control circuit.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
|
The BCM does not attempt to illuminate the accent lighting.
|
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
|
|
•
|
The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
|
|
•
|
A history DTC will clear once 100 consecutive malfunction ignition cycles have occurred.

Circuit/System Verification
|
When opening the passenger door the ambient illumination should go ON. When closing the driver door and locking the vehicle the accent light illumination should go OFF after 5 s.
|
1.

Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connectors at the appropriate inoperative accent light.
|
|
2.
|
Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground of the listed accent lamps:
|

|

If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
|
|

|
Close all doors and lock the vehicle, test for less than 0.3 V between control circuit terminal 1 of the appropriate inoperative accent light and ground after 5 s.
|
|
7.
|
If greater than the specified value, test the circuit for a short to voltage. If all circuits test normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module.
|
|
10.
|
Test for greater than 11 V between control circuit terminal 1 of the appropriate inoperative accent light and ground.
|
|
11.
|
If less than the specified value, test the circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If all circuits test normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module.
|
|
12.
|
If all circuits test normal, test or replace the appropriate inoperative accent light.
|
