Body Lock Pillar Outer Panel Sectioning

Removal Procedure

Refer to Approved Equipment for Collision Repair Warning .

Refer to Collision Sectioning Warning .

Refer to Glass and Sheet Metal Handling Warning .


1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

3. Visually inspect the damage. Repair as much of the damage as possible.

4. Remove the sealers and anti-corrosion materials from the repair area, as necessary. Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair (Base) Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair (Corrosion Protection) .

Note

Do not damage any inner panels or reinforcements. Note the number and location of the welds for installations of the service part.


Cut out the body lock pillar outer panel roughly.

Do not damage any inner panels or reinforcements. Note the number and location of the welds for installations of the service part.


Cut out the body lock pillar outer panel (1) roughly.

Note

Do not damage any inner panels or reinforcements. Note the number and location of the welds for installations of the service part.


Locate and mark all the necessary factory welds of the body lock pillar outer panel (1).


8. Drill out the necessary factory welds (1).

9. Remove the damaged body lock pillar outer panel.


Installation Procedure


1. Apply 1K-Adhesive on the sound deadener (1). Refer to Chemical Products .


2. Apply bodywork repair through structural adhesive to body (2). Refer to Structural Adhesive Body Repairs .

3. Clean and prepare the attaching surfaces for welding.


4. Position the body lock pillar outer panel on the vehicle.

5. Verify the fit of the roof outer panel.

6. Clamp the body lock pillar outer panel into position.

Note

Refer to Welded, Brazed, and Riveted Joint Specifications .


Spot weld (1) the body lock pillar outer panel.

Note

Refer to Welded, Brazed, and Riveted Joint Specifications .


MIG-braze (1) the body lock pillar outer panel.


9. Grind MIG-brazed seams.

10. Apply the sealers and anti-corrosion materials to the repair area, as necessary. Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair (Base) Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair (Corrosion Protection) .

11. Paint the repaired area. Refer to Basecoat/Clearcoat Paint Systems .

12. Install all related panels and components.

13. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

14. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
