Rear Wheelhouse Panel Replacement (Sedan)

Removal Procedure

Refer to Approved Equipment for Collision Repair Warning .

Refer to Glass and Sheet Metal Handling Warning .


1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

3. Remove the body side inner panel sectioning. Refer to Body Side Inner Panel Sectioning .

4. Visually inspect the damage. Repair as much of the damage as possible.

5. Remove the sealers and anti-corrosion materials from the repair area, as necessary. Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair (Base) Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair (Corrosion Protection) .

Note

Do not damage any inner panels or reinforcements.

Note the number and location of the welds for installations of the service part.


Locate and drill out all of the necessary factory welds (1) on the rear wheelhouse panel.

Locate and drill out all of the necessary factory welds (1) on the rear wheelhouse panel.

Locate and drill out all of the necessary factory welds (1) on the rear wheelhouse panel.

Locate and drill out all of the necessary factory welds (1) on the rear wheelhouse panel.


10. Remove the damaged rear wheelhouse panel (2).


Installation Procedure


1. Prepare the new rear wheelhouse panel in the area (1).

3 x slots (8 x 24 mm / 0.3 x 0.9 in)


2. Prepare the new rear wheelhouse panel in the area (1).

2 x slots (6 x 20 mm / 0.2 x 0.8 in)


3. Prepare the rear wheelhouse panel gus in the area (1).

4x slots (8 x 24 mm / 0.3 x 0.9 in)


4. Prepare the rear wheelhouse panel gus in the area (1).

5 x slots (8 x 24 mm / 0.3 x 0.9 in)


5. Prepare new rear end upper panel in the area (1).

5 x slots (6 x 20 mm / 0.2 x 0.8 in)


6. Clean and prepare the attaching surfaces for welding (1).


7. Apply bodywork repair through structural adhesive to body (1). Refer to Structural Adhesive Body Repairs .

8. Position the new rear wheelhouse panel on the vehicle.


9. Verify the fit of the new rear wheelhouse panel.

10. Clamp the new rear wheelhouse panel into position.

Refer to Welded, Brazed, and Riveted Joint Specifications .


Spot weld the rear wheelhouse panel (1) accordingly.


12. MIG-braze the rear wheelhouse panel (1).


13. MIG-braze the rear wheelhouse panel (1).


14. MIG-braze the rear wheelhouse panel (1).


15. MIG-braze the rear wheelhouse panel (1).


16. Grind MIG brazed seams.

17. Apply the sealers and anti-corrosion materials to the repair area, as necessary. Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair (Base) Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair (Corrosion Protection) .

18. Remove the body side inner panel sectioning. Refer to Body Side Inner Panel Sectioning .

19. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

20. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
