Exhaust Camshaft and Valve Lifter Replacement

| Removal Procedure |
| 1. |
Remove the timing chain guide - upper. Refer to
Timing Chain Guide Replacement - Upper

| 2. |
Release the camshaft timing chain. Refer to
Primary Timing Chain Replacement
.
|
|
| 3. |
Remove the power brake booster pump. Refer to
Power Brake Booster Pump Replacement (LAU/A28NER)
Power Brake Booster Pump Replacement (LHU/A20NFT)

| 4. |
Remove the camshaft position actuator - exhaust. Refer to
Camshaft Position Exhaust Actuator Replacement
.

|
| 5. |
Remove the 12 fasteners (1) from the camshaft bearing caps (2).
|
|
| 6. |
Remove with caution the camshaft bearing cap (2) from the cylinder head.
|
|
| 7. |
Remove the exhaust camshaft (1).
|
|
| 8. |
Remove the valve lifter (2).
|
|
| Installation Procedure |
| 1. |
Install the valve lifter (1).
Employ the valve lifter with engine oil 
|
|
| 2. |
Install the exhaust camshaft (2).
Employ the camshaft with engine oil |
|
| 3. |
Install the camshaft bearing caps (1) and camshaft bearing cap fasteners (2). Tighten the fasteners to
10 Nm (89 lb in)
.

| 4. |
Install the camshaft position actuator - exhaust. Refer to
Camshaft Position Exhaust Actuator Replacement
.
|
|
| 5. |
Install the camshaft timing chain. Refer to
Primary Timing Chain Replacement
.

|
| 6. |
Install the power brake booster pump. Refer to
Power Brake Booster Pump Replacement (LAU/A28NER)
Power Brake Booster Pump Replacement (LHU/A20NFT)

| 7. |
Install the timing chain guide - upper. Refer to
Timing Chain Guide Replacement - Upper
