Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement (LLU/A16LET)

Removal Procedure

1.	Turn the ignition OFF.

2.	Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

3.	Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

4.	Remove charge air cooler inlet air hose from turbocharger. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Hose Replacement .

5.	Remove turbocharger oil return hose. Refer to Turbocharger Oil Return Hose Replacement .

6.	Lower the vehicle.

7.	Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (LLU/A16LET) .

8.	Remove the stretch drive belt (1) from the power steering pump (2).

9.	Note Secure power steering pump with a cable tie. Remove the three fasteners (3) of the power steering pump.

10.	Remove the turbocharger wastegate regulator solenoid valve. Refer to Turbocharger Wastegate Regulator Solenoid Valve Replacement (LLU/A16LET) .

11.	Remove the turbocharger air inlet adapter. Refer to Turbocharger Air Inlet Adapter Replacement (LLU/A16LET) .

12.	Remove the fastener (1) of the oil level indicator tube (2).

13.	Note Place an oil basin underneath. Remove the oil level indicator tube.

14.	Remove the fasteners (1) and remove the exhaust manifold heat shield (2).

Installation Procedure

1.	Refer to Fastener Caution . Install the exhaust pipe's heat shield (2) and fasteners (1). Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb in) .

2.	Install the oil level indicator tube with two NEW seal rings.

3.	Install the bolt (1) for the oil level indicator tube (2) and tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb in) .

4.	Install the turbocharger air inlet adapter with a NEW gasket. Refer to Turbocharger Air Inlet Adapter Replacement (LLU/A16LET) .

5.	Install the turbocharger wastegate regulator solenoid valve. Refer to Turbocharger Wastegate Regulator Solenoid Valve Replacement (LLU/A16LET) .

6.	Raise the vehicle.

7.	Install turbocharger oil return hose with a NEW gasket. Refer to Turbocharger Oil Return Hose Replacement .

8.	Install charge air cooler inlet air hose to the turbocharger. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Hose Replacement .

9.	Lower the vehicle.

10.	Install the three fasteners (3) for the power steering pump and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft) .

11.	Install the stretch drive belt (1) to the power steering pump (2).

12.	Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (LLU/A16LET) .

13.	Check engine oil level. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (LLU/A16LET) .

14.	Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
