Diagnostic Procedure Instructions provides an overview of each diagnostic category.

DTC Descriptor

DTC C0252 00

Vehicle Stability Control Module Sensors Correlation Malfunction

Circuit/System Description

The yaw rate, lateral acceleration and longitudinal acceleration sensors are combined into one multi-axis acceleration sensor, external to the electronic brake control module (EBCM). The EBCM controls the stability control by monitoring the inputs of the yaw rate sensor, lateral acceleration sensor, and steering angle sensor. The readings are compared to an internal calibrated value so it knows if the vehicle is having an instability condition to activate the stability control.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Vehicle is travelling.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The yaw rate sensor, lateral acceleration sensor and steering angle sensor signals are not plausible to each other. Straight line driving can not be recognized after a distance of 2.5 km (1.5 mi).

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The EBCM disables the stability control and hill start assist for the duration of the ignition cycle.

The traction control/stability control-active indicator turns ON.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

A current DTC clears when the diagnostic runs and passes.

The EBCM will turn OFF the indicator in the next ignition cycle.

Diagnostic Aids

The following conditions can cause this concern:

Improper steering alignment

An improperly mounted or loose multi-axis acceleration sensor

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Lateral Acceleration Signal and Yaw Rate Sensor parameter. On a level surface, the readings should be 0 V.

Observe the scan tool Steering Column Position parameter. As the steering wheel is turned, the reading should travel from -450 to +450°.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Verify that DTC C0187, C0196, C019B, C0297, or C0710 is not present.

2. If any listed DTC is present, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle .

3. Replace the B119 Multi-axis Acceleration Sensor and verify the DTC does not reset.

4. If the DTC resets, replace the B99 Steering Wheel Angle Sensor and verify the DTC does not reset.

5. If the DTC resets, replace the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module.
