Steering Knuckle Upper Ball Stud Replacement (GNB)



Callout Component Name

Preliminary Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

3. Remove the front brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J60, J61, J62) Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J64) .

4. Undo the wheel drive shaft from the wheel bearing/hub. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side (GNA) Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side (GNB) and Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (GNB) Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (Petrol) .

5. Remove the front wheel speed sensor. Refer to Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (GNA) Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (GNB) .

6. Separate the outer tie rod end from the knuckle. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement .

Steering Knuckle Camber Adjust Nut

Refer to Fastener Caution .


Procedure

1. Install NEW nut.

2. After Installation check the front alignment and tighten the torque.


Tighten

70 Nm (52 lb ft) + 45 degrees + 15 degrees

Procedure

Install NEW bolt.

Steering Knuckle Upper Ball Stud Fastener (Qty: 2)


Procedure

1. Install NEW fasteners.

2. After Installation check the front alignment and tighten the torque.


Tighten

115 Nm (85 lb ft) + 45 degrees + 15 degrees

Steering Knuckle Upper Ball Stud Nut

Note

Use CH-49375 wrench to tighten the upper ball stud nut.


Tighten

45 Nm (33 lb ft) + 30 degrees + 15 degrees

CH-49375 Wrench

For equivalent regional tools. Refer to Special Tools .

Steering Knuckle Upper Ball Stud


Procedure

1. Separate the steering knuckle upper ball stud from the strut yoke.

2. Use the CH-50094 ball joint remover and DT-161-B puller to remove the ball joint from the steering knuckle.

3. After installation, check the front alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement .
