Child Security Lock Switch Circuit Malfunction
| Circuit/System Description |
The child lock security switch operates the child locks on the rear doors. The switch is an input to the body control module (BCM) and the BCM will energize the child door lock relay. The rear door latches will disable or enable input from the inside door handles when voltage is applied to the appropriate circuit through the child door lock relay.
| Conditions for Running the DTC |
Battery voltage must be between 9-16 V.
| Conditions for Setting the DTC |
The DTC will set when the BCM detects a malfunction in the child security door lock switch signal circuit.
| Action Taken When the DTC Sets |
The power door locks will be inoperative.
| Conditions for Clearing the DTC |
| • |
This DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
|
|
| • |
When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
|
|
| • |
A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

| Circuit/System Verification |
Enable and disable the interior rear door handles by pressing and depressing the child security lock switch. The interior rear door handles should be enabled and disabled while changing between the commanded states.
| Circuit/System Testing |
| 1. |
Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S48A Multifunction Switch - Instrument Panel.
|
|
| 2. |
Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 1 and ground.
|
|
| 3. |
If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
|
|
| 4. |
Connect the harness connector at the S48A Multifunction Switch - Instrument Panel.
|
|
| 5. |
Disconnect the X2 harness connector at the K9 Body Control Module.
|
|
| 6. |
Connect a test lamp between B+ and the control circuit terminal 18 X2.
|
|
| 7. |
Verify that a test lamp does not illuminate with released child security lock switch.
|
|
| 8. |
If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the S48A Multifunction Switch - Instrument Panel.

| 9. |
Verify that a test lamp does illuminate with pressed child security lock switch.
|
|
| 10. |
If the test lamp does not illuminates, test the control circuit for a open circuit/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the S48A Multifunction Switch - Instrument Panel.

If all circuits test normal, replace K9 Body Control Module.
