Brake disc, rear, 4WD

To remove


1. Raise the car.

2. Remove the Wheel .

3. Remove the retaining spring (A) from the brake caliper.


4. Remove the bolts for the bushings (A), and fold down the anti-roll bar (B).


5. Remove the hydraulic body and brake caliper holder as one unit (A) and hang it to one side using a cable tie.

Important

Be careful that the brake pipes do not get damaged.



6. Remove the brake pads.

7. Remove the brake disc locking bolt (A). Lift off the brake disc.



To fit


1. Clean all the contact surfaces between the hub and the brake disc.

2. Fit the brake disc and locking bolt (A).

Tightening torque 7 Nm (5 lbf ft)


3. Clean the contact surfaces between the brake caliper carrier and the steering swivel member.

4. Screw in the brake piston (A) with 89 96 969 Resetting tool (B) and 89 96 977 Adapter (C).

Important

Check that the rubber gaiter does not turn when the brake piston is screwed in. Otherwise cracks may appear in the gaiter.



5. Lubricate the pad sliding and contact surfaces with Special paste .


6. Fit the brake pads to the holder and cut off the cable tie.

Note

Check that the inner pad locates in the piston's groove.


7. Fit the hydraulic body and brake caliper holder (A) with 74 96 268 Thread locking adhesive .

Tightening torque 130 Nm +45° (96 lbf ft +45°)


8. Fold up the anti-roll bar (B) and fit the bolts for the bushings (A).

Tightening torque 30 Nm (23 lbf ft)


9. Fit the retaining spring (A) to the brake caliper.


10. Fit the wheel .

11. Lower the car.
