Circuit/System Description

The wheel speeds are recorded by active wheel speed sensors and coding rings made up of permanent magnets. Each wheel speed sensor receives a reference voltage of 12 V from the electronic brake control module. Wheel speed sensors emit an AC voltage of 4 - 18 mA on the control module signal circuit. When the wheels rotate, the electronic brake control module uses the frequency of the square signal to calculate the wheel speed.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition ON

Conditions for Setting the DTC

A supervised periodic message that includes the wheel speed serial data has not been received.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

Specific subsystems will not function or operate in degraded mode.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC


The DTC is cleared when a diagnostic test is run and passes.

The DTC in the history is cleared after 40 consecutive fault-free ignition cycles have taken place.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, observe the scan tool EBCM Wheel Speed Sensor parameters. The readings for all sensors should indicate the same speed when driving in a straight line at a speed greater than 20 km/h (13 mph).

Circuit/System Testing


1. Ignition ON

2. Verify that DTC C0035, C0040, C0045, or C0050 is no set.

3. If any of the stated DTCs is sets, see DTC C0035, C0040, C0045 or C0050

4. If none of the DTCs is set:

5. Replace the K17 electronic brake control module.

6. Verify that the DTCs C1207 - C1210, C1221 - C1228, or C1232 - C1235 are not set when the vehicle is manoeuvred under the conditions specified in 'Conditions for running of diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)'

7. If any of the DTCs is set:

8. Replace the control device that set the DTC.

9. If none of the DTCs are set:

10. All OK
