Circuit/System Description

The instrument cluster turns ON the ABS indicator for 5 seconds after ignition ON or when the electronic brake control module (EBCM) detects a fault and sends a serial data message to the instrument cluster commanding the indicator ON.

Circuit/System Verification


1. Ignition ON

2. Verify that no DTCs have been generated.

3. If DTC(s) has (have) been generated:

4. See Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle

5. If no DTCs are present:

6. Verify that the ABS indication in the instrument cluster comes on and goes off when you run the function 'All indications On - OFF' using the diagnostic tool.

7. If the ABS indication does not come on and go off:

8. Replace the instrument cluster.

9. If the ABS indication comes on and goes off:

10. Verify that the ABS light goes off 5 seconds after ignition ON.

11. If the ABS light does not go off:

12. Replace the electronic brake control module K17

13. If the ABS light goes off:

14. All OK.
