Passenger Presence System Preload Test

The Passenger Presence System (PPS) is a calibrated system that requires checking for preloads within each region when the system has been serviced or replaced. If the passenger seat cushion, cushion trim or heating pad have been serviced, reinstalled or removed for some reason, the following procedure will check any preloads on the PPS. It is not possible to check any preloads on the PPS before it is unlocked using SPS programming. If the SPS module is replaced no unlocking is required before the first preload check. Once a preload test has been performed, the passenger presence module will lock regardless of a pass or fail status. If a module needs to be checked again, it must first be unlocked with SPS programming. Read thoroughly through the procedures before beginning. For further information regarding PPS, refer to

Empty the front outboard passenger seat.
|
|

With the scan tool, perform the Passenger Presence Sensor Learn procedure.
|
|
4.

If the test fails, adjust the seat bottom trim, and massage the cover to ensure unwanted pressure is not present in the specified area, and restart the Passenger Presence Sensor Learn procedure (Existing Module).

Once the test successfully completes, cycle the ignition key OFF.
