Circuit/System Description

The body control module (BCM) communicates with the remote control door lock receiver through the keyless entry serial data circuits. When any button on the keyless entry transmitter is pressed, the transmitter sends a signal to the remote control door lock receiver. The remote control door lock receiver sends a function request to the BCM, depending on which button is pressed on the transmitter. The BCM receives the message and carries out the requested function.

Conditions for Running the DTC

A button is pressed on the keyless entry transmitter.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

No response is received from the remote control door lock receiver after the BCM requests information from or sends configuration commands to the remote control door lock receiver.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

In the case of power failure, the remote control door lock receiver is disabled for 65 seconds, otherwise no action is taken.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC


A current DTC will clear when the fault is no longer present.

A history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive ignition cycles without a fault present.

Circuit/System test


1. Ignition and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the wiring harness at K77 remote control door lock receiver. It can take up to 2 minutes for all vehicle systems to close.

2. Test for less than 30 Ω between low reference circuit terminal and ground.

3. 30 Ω or higher

3.1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the wiring harness at K9 Body control module (BCM).

3.2. Test for less than 2 Ω In the low reference circuit, start to finish.

3.3. 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.

3.4. Lower than 2 Ω, replace K9 Body control module (BCM).

4. Less than 30 Ω

5. Ignition ON.

6. Test for greater than 11.5V between the B+ circuit terminal 4 and ground.

7. 11.5 V or lower

7.1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the wiring harness at K9 Body control module (BCM)

7.2. Test for infinite resistance between the B+ circuit and ground.

7.3. Less than infinite resistance, repair the card to the ground on the circuit.

7.4. Infinite resistance.

7.5. Test for less than 2 Ω in the B+ circuit start to end.

7.6. 2 Ω or higher, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.

7.7. Lower than 2 Ω, replace K9 Body control module (BCM).

8. Higher than 11.5 V

9. Test for 3-6 V between the serial circuit pin 3 and ground.

10. Lower than 3 V

10.1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the wiring harness at K9 Body control module (BCM)

10.2. Test for infinite resistance between the serial circuit and ground.

10.3. If less than infinite resistance, repair the circuit to ground on the card.

10.4. Infinite resistance

10.5. Less than 2 Ω in the serial circuit start to finish.

10.6. 2 Ω or higher, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.

10.7. Lower 2 Ω, replace K9 Body control module (BCM).

11. Higher than 6 V

11.1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the wiring harness at K9 Body control module (BCM), ignition ON

11.2. Less than 1 V between the serial circuit and ground.

11.3. 1 V or higher, to repair the card to the voltage on the circuit.

11.4. Less than 1 V, replace K9 Body control module (BCM).

12. Between 3-6 V

13. Ignition OFF, disconnect X1 and X2 wiring harness connector on K9 Body control module (BCM), ignition ON.

14. Less than 1 V between K9 Body control module's serial data circuit pin 27 X2 and ground.

15. 1 V or higher

Repair the card for voltage on circuit.

16. Less than 1 V

17. Ignition OFF.

18. Test for infinite resistance between K9 Body control module's serial data circuit pin 27 X2 and ground.

19. Less than infinite resistance

Repair the short to ground on the circuit.

20. Infinite resistance

21. Less than 2 Ω between K9 Body control module's serial data circuit pin 27 X2 and K77 remote control door lock receiver's serial data circuit terminal 2.

22. 2 Ω or higher

Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.

23. Less than 2 Ω

24. Replace K77 remote control door lock receiver.

25. Verify that diagnostic trouble code B3101 is not set when the vehicle operates according to the conditions to run the diagnostic trouble code.

26. If the diagnostic trouble code is set

Replace K9 Body control module (BCM)

27. If the diagnostic trouble code is not set

28. All OK.
