P0103

Mass air flow sensor circuit high input.

Fault symptoms

CHECK ENGINE.

Loss of performance.

On-Board Diagnostics

Type of diagnosis:

- Continuous.

Enable criteria:

- Ignition ON.

- Battery voltage should be 10.2-15.8 V.

- P1636 or P1637 should not be detected.

Fault criteria:

- Voltage on input exceeds 4.90V for more than 2.1s.

Dependents:

- None.

System reaction to a fault:

- The control module will continue to work with a substitute value of 1200 mg/cyl for the mass air flow sensor. The following limitations apply: Pedal position sensor adjustable to max 40 %, fuel quantity max 30 mm 3 /combustion and EGR and boost pressure control are switched off.

OK report:

- Voltage on input falls below 4.90V for more than 2.1s.

Fault handling: (See section Fault handling III, other emissions-related components and functions for more information)

- Type III.

Diagnostic help

Fault diagnosis concerns an electrical fault in connecting leads or in the sensor.

Functions in the diagnostic tool related to the fault:

- Read value: Airmass / Combustion

See also description of read value under "Read Values" menu for more information.

Checking the wiring

Jiggle the wiring harness at several points and in different directions to detect intermittent breaks and short circuits. Observe the multimeter, diagnostic tool or test lamp during the check.
