Selector lever housing

To remove


1. Disconnect the battery's negative cable.


2. Remove the floor and centre consoles, see Service Manual 8:2 "Interior equipment".

3. Remove the air duct leading to the rear air vent and the two ducts leading to the centre section of the dashboard.

4. Move the selector lever to position N.

5. Release the indicator plate and its rubber seal from the selector lever housing and turn it to the side so that the mounting point for the selector lever cable will be accessible.

6. Release the locking screw for the selector lever cable's attachment to the selector lever. Insert the tool into the housing under the indicator plate.

7. Release the front cable mounting point.

8. Release the wiring harness on the right-hand side of the selector lever housing by snipping the cable ties and cable holder securing the wiring to the housing by the ignition switch.


9. Unscrew the four bolts securing the selector lever housing to the car body.

10. Unplug the three connectors on the right-hand side of the housing.

11. Turn the housing with its bottom facing to the left and remove the circlip securing the selector lever cable.

12. Unplug the rear connector and the bush securing the cable to the selector lever housing.

Note

Important

The locking screw for the selector lever cable is loose and can fall out when the housing is lifted out of the car.


13. Lift the selector lever housing out of the car.


To fit


1. Position the selector lever housing sideways with its bottom facing to the left.


2. Plug in the rear connector and fit the bush holding the wiring to the housing.

3. Insert the selector lever cable into its mounting and secure it with the circlip.

4. Straighten up the housing and position it properly in place.

5. Screw the selector lever housing in place.

6. Plug in the three connectors on the right-hand side of the housing.

7. Secure the wiring harness with 2 new clips and fasten the cable holder to the housing adjacent to the ignition switch.

8. Screw on the selector lever cable's front mounting point.

9. Move the selector lever and gear selector on the transmission to position N.

10. Adjust the position of the selector lever, see .

11. Fit the indicator plate and its rubber seal in place. Make sure that the WINTER switch cable is properly inserted into the selector lever housing.

12. Refit the air ducts that were previously removed.


13. Fit the floor and centre consoles, see Service Manual 8:2 "Interior equipment".

14. Connect the battery.
