Oil Pump Replacement (LLU/A16LET)



Special Tools

• CH-49290 Engine Support Fixture

• EN-6625 Flywheel Holder

• EN-50098 Stretchy Belt Installer

Removal Procedure


1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

2. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .

3. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LAU/A28NER) Cooling System Draining and Filling (LBS/A20DTH) Cooling System Draining and Filling (LHU/A20NFT) .

4. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (LLU/A16LET) .

5. Remove the timing belt upper front cover. Refer to Timing Belt Upper Front Cover Replacement .

6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

7. Remove the stretch drive belt (1) from the power steering pump (2).

Note

Secure power steering pump with a cable tie.


Remove the 3 fasteners (3) of the power steering pump.

9. Remove the wiring harness from the bracket.

10. Remove the radiator outlet hose from the pump module. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (Diesel) Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LAU/A28NER) Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LHU/A20NFT) .

11. Remove the fastener (1) of the oil level indicator tube (2).


12. Disconnect the electrical connector of the Heated Oxygen Sensor - sensor 1. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Sensor 1 (LLU/A16LET) .

13. Raise the vehicle.

14. Remove turbocharger oil return hose. Refer to Turbocharger Oil Return Hose Replacement .

15. Loosen both front fasteners of the drivetrain and front suspension frame front crossmember. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Front Crossmember Replacement (GNA) Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Front Crossmember Replacement (GNB) .

16. Remove the front compartment splash shield. Refer to Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement .

17. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .

18. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .

19. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (Diesel) Generator Replacement (LAU/A28NER) Generator Replacement (LLU/A16LET) Generator Replacement (LHU/A20NFT) .

Note

Secure air conditioning compressor with a cable tie.


Remove the air conditioning compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LBS/A20DTH) Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LAU/A28NER) Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LLU/A16LET) Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LBY/A20DTR) Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LHU/A20NFT) .

21. Remove the timing belt tensioner. Refer to Timing Belt Tensioner Replacement .

22. Install the CH-49290 orange tool.

23. Lower the vehicle.

24. Remove the engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .

25. Remove the engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement .

26. Remove the timing belt idler pulley. Refer to Timing Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .

27. Remove the crankshaft sprocket. Refer to Crankshaft Sprocket Replacement .

Note the different screw lengths.


Remove the 8 fasteners (2, 3) of the front cover and oil pump module.


29. Remove the front cover and oil pump module (4).

30. Remove the gasket (1) of the front cover and oil pump module.

31. Remove the engine oil cooler pipe. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Pipe Replacement (A28NER/LAU) Engine Oil Cooler Pipe Replacement (LLU/A16LET) .

32. Remove the crankshaft front oil seal. Refer to Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Replacement .


Installation Procedure


1. Clean the sealing surface of the cylinder block.

2. Install the engine oil cooler pipe. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Pipe Replacement (A28NER/LAU) Engine Oil Cooler Pipe Replacement (LLU/A16LET) .

3. Unlock the crankshaft. Remove the EN-6625 flywheel holder.

4. Install a NEW front cover and oil pump module gasket (1).

Note

Adjust the drive of the oil pump drive gear to the same position as the hexagon low end of the crankshaft. If necessary, turn the crankshaft a little clockwise or counterclockwise to mount the oil pump module.


Install the front cover and oil pump module (4).

6. Refer to Fastener Caution .

Install the 8 fasteners (2, 3) of the front cover and oil pump module and tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb ft) .

7. Install the crankshaft front oil seal. Refer to Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Replacement .

8. Install the crankshaft sprocket. Refer to Crankshaft Sprocket Replacement .

9. Install the EN6625 holder.

10. Install the timing belt idler pulley. Refer to Timing Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .

11. Install the engine mount bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement .

12. Install the engine mount bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .

13. Remove the CH-49290 orange tool.

14. Install the timing belt tensioner. Refer to Timing Belt Tensioner Replacement .

15. Install the air conditioning compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LBS/A20DTH) Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LAU/A28NER) Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LLU/A16LET) Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LBY/A20DTR) Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LHU/A20NFT) .

16. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (Diesel) Generator Replacement (LAU/A28NER) Generator Replacement (LLU/A16LET) Generator Replacement (LHU/A20NFT) .

17. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .

18. Install the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .

19. Fasten both front fasteners of the drivetrain and front suspension frame front crossmember. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Front Crossmember Replacement (GNA) Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Front Crossmember Replacement (GNB) .

20. Install the front compartment splash shield. Refer to Front Compartment Splash Shield Replacement .

21. Install the turbocharger oil return hose. Refer to Turbocharger Oil Return Hose Replacement .

22. Connect the electrical connector of the heated oxygen sensor - sensor 1. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Sensor 1 (LLU/A16LET) .

23. Remove the fastener (1) of the oil level indicator tube (2).


24. Install the radiator outlet hose to the pump module. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (Diesel) Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LAU/A28NER) Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LHU/A20NFT) .

25. Install the wiring harness to the bracket.

26. Install the 3 fasteners (3) of the power steering pump.


27. Install the stretch drive belt (1) to the power steering pump (2).

Note

During turning the engine, take care of the proper installation of the belt to belt pulley water pump.


Mount EN-50098 stretchy belt installer (1) and stretch drive belt (2) to power steering pump belt pulley (3) and turn engine slowly clockwise.


29. Remove EN-50098 stretchy belt installer.

30. Install the timing belt upper front cover. Refer to Timing Belt Upper Front Cover Replacement .

31. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (LLU/A16LET) .

32. Refill the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (LLU/A16LET) .

33. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

34. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LAU/A28NER) Cooling System Draining and Filling (LBS/A20DTH) Cooling System Draining and Filling (LHU/A20NFT) .
